School Committee

Our School Community – School Committee

The St. John’s Parish School Advisory Committee is integral to upholding the mission of Catholic education within our school. Comprised of members from both the school and parish community, the Council works closely with the Principal and Parish Priest to offer guidance and support to our broader school community.

Functioning in an advisory capacity, the Committee ensures all policies are in line with the core values of Catholic education. While its role may differ from secular counterparts, its influence in shaping the school’s direction is profound.

The Council’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Fostering the development of the school’s Catholic identity, ethos, and mission.
  • Implementing pastoral care strategies that nurture our school community.
  • Promoting the school’s values and presence within our local community.
  • Ensuring adherence to ACNC Regulations by school associations and committees like the P&F (Parents and Friends).
  • Contributing to local strategic plans concerning finance, infrastructure, and resources, while also supporting diocesan educational planning.
  • Collaborating with Catholic system leadership on matters such as school funding and relevant government issues.
  • Producing an Annual School Advisory Committee Report for the benefit of our parish and school community.
  • Creating opportunities for parental involvement in student learning.
  • Facilitating social, community, and parish interactions to build supportive networks.
  • Addressing additional matters as requested by the Principal.
