Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to St. John’s Parish School in Cobar! My name is Kliendienst and I am the Principal of St John’s parish School. I hope this message and our website give you a good glimpse into our school community.

Our school’s history dates back to 1884, shaped by the Sisters of St. Josephs. We’re proud to continue the tradition of Catholic education in Cobar, with generations of families being part of our story.

Situated near St. Laurence’s Parish Church on Prince Street, our school boasts four main buildings and a spacious multipurpose hall. Our large playground provides ample space for students to play and learn.

St. John’s offers an authentic Catholic education that fosters growth, love, and respect. We prioritize individuality, relationships, and community, celebrating life’s joys. Working hand in hand with parents and the parish, we help each child discover and nurture their unique talents and gifts.

Our teachers are not just educators but also learners, constantly striving to provide top-quality education. They cultivate a love for learning in their classrooms and support each student’s journey.

Sports are an integral part of our curriculum, with opportunities for all students starting at 8 years of age. From swimming to athletics and team sports like rugby, netball, and touch football, we encourage physical activity and teamwork.

St. John’s actively participates in and supports various community events, including the ANZAC Day March, Festival of the Miner’s Ghost, Cobar Show, and Christmas Parade.

We embrace technological advancements, with Smartboards, Chromebooks, and iPads enhancing our teaching methods and student engagement.

We welcome families of all faiths who share our values and educational commitment. Feel free to reach out for more information or schedule a visit. I’d be delighted to show you around our vibrant school community.
